To everyone:
I finally got some fairly good results Monotprinting with this ink
without a press. You have to print on very evenly damp unsized paper for
best results and find it works better for designs and abstract than more
realistic carefully drawn work. Arches 88 was the paper of choice,
although I did have some trouble with the edges of the work bleeding
into the margins. Howerer, I did print five layers, one on top of the
other using a blown up photo of a fire escape as a drawing and it was
quite successful. I did one color on each plate and printed one on top
of the other, using the extender to thin the ink so it was more
transparent. I used rives lightweight for this print.
I used e-z cut hand made stamps to lift the wet ink off the plate in
areas and got some really good designs. I found a soft large flat brush
layed the color down fairly smoothly for solid areas. A brayer did not
work very well for this. Drawing through the ink when dry to make white
marks also produced some nice effects. The prints I liked the best had
more than one layer of color over another. I think this ink worked best
with the stamps and would recommend this for artists (if you want to use
this ink) as well as kids. For kids, the colors are good and it is easy
to use. For artists there are other inks that are easier to use and give
more professional results. The other negative is the colors that were
lightly printed (thin ink) tended to fade as the paper dried. Thus you
have to remember to use heavy concentrations of pigment making fine work
difficult.
So this is my two cents worth on Createx.....I will use it up since I
have all the colors, I will probably not buy more of it.
